This documentary film is about the avant-garde Korean American writer and artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha (차학경) whose unique vision continues to influence contemporary art, the Asian American Diaspora community and discussions on race, gender and identity. From the mid-1970s until her death at age 31, Cha created an impressive body of conceptual art that explored the theme of displacement and loss arising from her profound experience of exile from Korea. That experience also opened a doorway to explore universal aspects of memory, communication and perception and ultimately became a path to overcome her sense of alienation. This is a story of her journey home.
